After Trump imposed sanctions on Iran, the amount of interest for doing business in Iran for international companies has declined, while tendency to export has been skyrocketed inside the country. According to the report of WTTC 2018, The direct contribution of travel and tourism to GDP was IRR391.923 bn, 2.8 percent of GDP in 2017 and is forecast to rise by 7.4 percent in 2018. Moreover, the total contribution of travel and tourism to employment including jobs indirectly supported by the industry was 6.1 percent of total employment (1.577.500 jobs). This is expected to rise by 4.9 percent in 2018 to 1.654.500 jobs.
The good news is that visitor exports generated IRR150,859.0 bn (USD 4.6 bn), 3.9 percent of total exports in 2017 and it is forecast to grow by 8.1 percent in 2018. Furthermore, travel and tourism investment in 2017 was IRR93.473.5 bn, 3.3 percent of total investment and it should rise by 6.0 percent in 2018.
